Red Wagon Brigade

Employees formed the Red Wagon Brigade as our community service group. We are a Bank of Promise, affiliated with America’s Promise, an organization whose mission is to mobilize people from every sector of American life to build the character and competence of our nation’s youth. Their symbol is the symbol of childhood - the red wagon. We expanded our Brigade to include not only helping the youth in our communities, but others in our communities also.

The Five Promises of America’s Promise include:

  1. Ongoing relationships with caring adults in their lives - parents, mentors, tutors, or coaches
  2. Safe places with structured activities during non-school hours;
  3. Healthy start and future;
  4. Marketable skills through effective education; and
  5. Opportunities to give back through community service.

As a Bank of Promise, all of our employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and efforts for various nonprofit charitable organizations focused on enriching the lives of the people in their communities. They choose the events that they’d like to participate in, and their participation is matched with corporate monies, given directly to the charity.

In 2007, the Red Wagon Brigade plans to participate in many events. Some of the events are highlighted below:

  • Teach Children To Save Month - For the tenth year, the American Bankers Association Education Foundation and the Indiana Bankers Association, encouraged bankers to share their knowledge on financial literacy to area students. Several of our bankers attended Reality Store and Reality Check events at Lebanon, Western Boone, Tri-West and Zionsville Schools. Bankers worked with students as they determined the difference between needs and wants, as well as the importance of saving money for charitable donations. State Bank of Lizton believes it is critical that students learn good personal financial habits early in order to become financially responsible adults. It is encouraging to see that after participating in such events, students realize the importance of making responsible financial decisions and are eager to learn more. We encourage the students to talk to family members about financial commitments and to always use our bank employees as resources. To learn more, contact a bank employee at info@statebankoflizton.com.

  • Relay For Life - This year, the American Cancer Society's signature event visits Brownsburg for the first time on June 2 & 3, 10am to 10am - and we will be there! This 24 hour community event mixes moments of remembrance and celebration with bursts of fun, while educating participants about cancer risk factors. Our team slogan is "MISSION POSSIBLE 2007 ." You will be able to spot us on the track and at the Safari Lounge, our team camp. Employees, customers, family and friends will be wearing white t-shirts and on the back of the shirts will be the names of those for whom we are walking. To be a part of our team at this event, please visit your nearest State Bank of Lizton location or email us at info@statebankoflizton.com.

  • United Way of Central Indiana Pacesetter - State Bank of Lizton will gear up for their 2007 Pacesetter campaign for Hendricks and Boone Counties in July. In 2006, employees pledged over $14,000 in this year’s campaign. In addition to the Pacesetter campaign, State Bank of Lizton volunteers will volunteer for the Wings of Golf outing on August 21. The 2006 event raised over $50,000 for the Hendricks county campaign. We also collect school supplies in our lobbies for the BackPack Attack program which gives these items to needy children in Hendricks County. Over 6,000 supplies were collected in the 2006 campaign. • State Bank of Lizton Helps Make Miracles Happen For Riley Hospital For Children - Ever committed to community, State Bank of Lizton helps raise funds for Riley Hospital for Children throughout September through the Coins for Kids fundraiser. State Bank of Lizton will be "selling" paper coins to customers in exchange for minimum $1 donations to Riley Hospital. Customers donate $1 and write their names — or the names of honorees — on the paper coins for display in the bank lobby. All of the proceeds collected go directly to Riley, Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s hospital. State Bank of Lizton is working on this project with other member banks of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) to raise funds for the renowned children’s hospital. The Coins for Kids funds, combined with the holiday card funds, brought to a total $35,785.69 that IBA-member banks raised for Riley Hospital for Children in 2006. State Bank of Lizton supports Riley Hospital to help make futures bright for Indiana's youth.

    In 2007, State Bank of Lizton will open its newest branch at The Marketplace in Anson, Zionsville.
